"All" and "None" . . . Do I Use Singular or Plural Verbs? PDF Print E-mail



Both of these words can be singular or plural. If you mean "all of it" or "none of it," use the singular verb. If you mean "all of them" or "none of them," use the plural verb.

Right: All of the chocolate is gone.

Right: All of the visitors are gone.

Right: None of the house has been cleaned.

Right: None of the rooms have been cleaned.
