Press Release and Newsletter Ideas for Spring PDF Print E-mail

Just like New Year's Day, the start of Spring is a good excuse for a fresh start. Why not use the reawakening of trees and flowers outside your window to inspire some new marketing ideas for your organization? Here are five "Spring" angles you can use for press releases or newsletter articles in the coming weeks.

Spring Cleaning. A Harris Interactive poll shows that nearly three out of four U.S. adults are gearing up for spring cleaning this year. Home improvement companies can talk about cleaning up gutters and yards. Environmental groups can advocate for less toxic cleaning supplies. Children's groups can suggest ways that parents can donate toys their children no longer use. Think about possible links between the work you do and the work most people will be doing around the house in the coming months.

Spring Break. At the other end of the spectrum, how might your work relate to everyone's desire for some fun in the sun after a cold winter? Can you offer cost-saving tips for long-weekend travel? Or ideas for stay-at-home fun and relaxation?

Spring Fever. Got any ideas for how to deal with kids or pets who are bouncing off the walls? Thoughts on playing hooky from school or work? Somehow relate the work you do to the excitement and energy of Spring Fever.

Tax Day. April 15 is the deadline to file U.S. federal income tax returns. Even if you aren't in the accounting business, you can still use the date to promote your organization. Would it make sense for you to offer people tips on organizing their files? Or ways to reduce stress while sitting at a desk? Or advice on talking with a spouse or children about money matters?

"Special" Months. Did you know that April is "Cancer Control Month," "Keep America Beautiful Month," "Mathematics Education Month," "National Humor Month," and "National Poetry Month," among others? May is "Asian Pacific American Heritage Month," "National Allergy/Asthma Awareness Month," "National Bike Month," "National Salad Month," and "Older Americans Month." Just about every organization should be able to come up with a story idea related to one of these "special" months.
